I occasionally get asked where I find reading recommendations, so I thought I would do a quick round-up of summer reading guides and other ways I get my book recommendations!
I know bookstagram is FULL of accounts and posts and endless sources of booklists. I love a good bookstagram browse, but I find that I get overwhelmed very quickly over there! Instead, I typically listen to podcasts and then I LOVE a good summer reading guide. I’ve linked a bunch of them below- many of them require a payment, but I think I have paid about $35 for all of my summer reading lists- which is really about the cost of 1-2 books.
Podcasts
Book Talk, Etc. – Two friends discuss new releases, personal book reviews, and other bookish topics
From the Front Porch– Annie B Jones, a bookshop owner, talks book releases, what she has been reading lately, and other bookish topics.
Thought From a Page– this podcast interviews authors, share personal book reviews and recommend new releases
Summer Reading Guides
Everyday Reading Summer Reading Guide – This one is my FAVORITE and if you only have chance to peruse one list- let it be this one!
Sunshine and Books Blog
Modern Mrs. Darcy – This is actually the first time in years that I haven’t purchased the MMD Summer Reading Guide. I just have found that our book tastes are wildly different. However, I do always read her Minimalist Summer Reading Guide (it’s free!) and would still highly recommend purchasing her summer reading guide as she really knows her books.
Thoughts from a Page – Cindy’s Reading Guide and Kelly Hook’s Summer Reading Guide – both of these guides require payment, but I have found them to be worth every single penny!! Such an amazing list of summer reading!
Sarah’s Bookshelves Summer Reading Guide – I honestly don’t listen to this podcast anymore, but I do LOVE her summer reading list. It gets so many books on my radar that I wasn’t even aware of.
What about you? Where do you get your book recommendations from?
Do you ever purchase reading guides, or do you rely on the free editions?
What is one book that you hope to read this summer?
