I have a lot to recap from this past week- I don’t even know where to begin! At first I was going to put a bunch of recaps into one post, but I’ve decided to split them up instead. But I’ll highlight each one here in my Friday Favs!
One
Today is the 25th anniversary of the attack on the twin towers. How has it been 25 years? I was only 10, but I remember that day so well. We were overseas and so that added a little extra layer of fear and unknown. We didn’t know if we as American citizens were safe in the country. It turns out we were. Unfortunately, over the past 25 years it has changed dramatically and Americans are no longer safe in the country at all.
If you have never read this book, I HIGHLY recommend it. It’s such a great book. The content/subjuect is obviously terrible, and there is no way to have a redemptive twist on it. But the way the book is written brings so much honor and respect to all the events that happened that day. It’s almost beautiful. If you’ve ever been to Ground Zero, it feels similar. Just walking in NYC and then turning the corner to Ground Zero you can feel the hush and the somber, yet respectful way they have shone beauty on such a tragedy.

Two
Labor Day weekend was quite lovely this year- the weather was perfection and we had very little on the calendar, which is exactly what our family needed. We went out for a family hike but ended up just playing in the river instead!

Three
Our school did a field trip to the Cincinnati Reds Stadium! I’ll write a whole separate blog post for this, but it was a HOT day and this tour was a deep dive into all things behind the scenes at the Reds stadium!

Four
On Sunday, I got to “run” a Muddy Princess 5k! I will also write a whole separate post about this, but it was a BLAST.

Five
Happy Birthday!
Did you Sept 9th is the most common birthday? I got to assist at a birth on the night of Sept 9th, and it was BUSY in that labor ward! The birth didn’t go exactly according to plan, so there was a lot of emotions and it was very mentally and physically hands on for me. I am so thankful for these sweet families who trust me to come alongside them in the sacred work of birth!
P.S. These are my “birth shoes” now. I only wear them for births. They are comfy, easy to slide on and off, and have been hit by a few bodily fluids now and then #iykyk

I feel like I could share several more highlights from the week, but I’m going to keep this short and sweet and sign off for the weekend!

We had a lovely hike Labor Day weekend too and some pretty nice weather most of the days (though it did rain some but we needed it). I don’t think I could ever do a mud run; we have one locally near us but I really, really detest the feeling of mud.
I agree about the book Only Plane. I listened to the audio and it was exceptional.
