April has long since passed away from the rearview mirror, but I wanted to take a minute to reminisce on the things that happened during that month, at least for my own sake as I look back on this blog as a scrapbook.
We started the month with some extra long days. Some days we kiss Theo goodbye and don’t think too much about the fact that he is a law enforcement officer. But some days we kiss him goodbye, and the kisses and hugs seem heavier and more serious. On days that he has court he usually has to leave much earlier and pulls 15+ hour days (or has to go in on his day off). But he sure does look handsome in a suit with that shiny badge!

We continued to be a one car family and that was a challenge for sure! We were trying to load up and move our household items and this tiny car did most of the work! We also had to ram three carseats into the back seat, which made for a lot of skinned knuckles on Mom and poor Tera had to sit in the middle of her two brothers without even a centimeter of wiggle room! Don’t worry…they never rode in the front seat outside of the driveway. And, yes, we did transport the mattress just like this.

Our sweet little first home was under contract almost immediately, but those buyers backed out. Within a few hours it was under contract again, and the closing date is set for this Friday! We are excited to finally have that SOLD, but also know that anything could happen in the next few days!

Spring has FINALLY sprung!! (Although today is May 13th and the high is 52 degrees so theres that). We soak up every single moment we can outside in the sunshine! It’s absolutely glorious!!!
I LOVE seeing the dead trees transform into beautiful, flowering buds.
One day we headed over to the tire shop, where we realized that Theo didn’t have his wallet. They wouldn’t let us take our vehicle without proper pay, so Theo had to leave for work and get his wallet on the way. The kids and I stayed at the tire shop while we waited for Theo to pay over the phone. We realized that there was something fun going on at Home Depot and found that it was the kids workshop! We have gone once before and it was absolutely overwhelming for me. The projects are way too advanced for my kids, so it basically means that the adult does ALL the work while also trying to keep the attention of the kids. BUT, since we were waiting anyways, I decided to give it a go. First problem solved: where to put the baby down (I didn’t have my baby carrier since I wasn’t intending to be waiting around anywhere at all!). The kids did awesome and we ended up with some pretty cool birdhouses!

We’ve also had our fair share of snuggles on the couch! It’s too bad nobody loves that Ezra….
Thanks to sharing babysitting, Theo and I even got to go out for dinner one night kid-free!
AND the Lord blessed us immensely with a new van!! That was SUCH an answer to prayer! Don’t worry…we’ve already had our first flat tire….approximately 20 minutes into driving it for the first time. LOL.

I promised the kids that the first day it was 75 and sunny, we would walk to the ice cream shop down the street from our house. They’ve asked me every single day since like February if it was 75 degrees and sunny. They were SO EXCITED when they found out it was!!! Also…how dangerous is it to live within walking distance from an ice cream shop?

We also made our first trip to the zoo this year! We have already made such good use of our membership, but we will be back many times this summer, I’m sure!
We also attended a Dayton Dragons game with some of Theo’s coworkers. It was…..super boring. Is baseball a really slow sport or is that just me? Or is that just the minor leagues? It was great company and fun to get out, but I probably won’t be going to another.

Last summer we discovered that we love bike riding as a family! But we weren’t sure how we would be able to do it this year with three non-independent bike riders. I found this bike attachment for Tera and we are back on the bike trails! Tera and I ride together and Theo hauls the two boys in the bike trailer.
Our favorite wildflower field bloomed and we found a beautiful day to go for a hike!
Easter weekend came and Theo had to work, but I still managed to take the kids to one Easter egg hunt and we managed to spot a handsome man in uniform!
We also took a little trip up to Michigan to visit our in-laws.
They have a small zoo and we enjoyed spending the day walking around and seeing all kinds of animals! I think the highlight was riding the train and this peacock eating right out of our hands!
I also was privileged to attend Vintage Market Days as a blogger/media person…I got to browse the booths and it was incredible!!! I highly recommend looking to see if your area has one and attending. I love to find handmade and support small shops, and this was a perfect way to do just that!
Ezra and I had the chance to attend a homeschool convention in Cincinnati! I registered for two and half days, but I only ended up attending one day. There were SO MANY sessions and SO MANY vendors and it can be overwhelming for a new homeschooler! I really enjoyed the sessions I was able to attend, and I LOVED browsing the vendor hall. Basically, after one day I felt like I had seen what I wanted to seen and heard what I needed to hear for this year, and I’ll be happy to sign up again next year!
One day we were driving home from the library and I glanced in my rearview mirror to see Tera ASLEEP. WHAT?!?!?! I did a double take, even whipped myself around as safely as I could to make sure what I was seeing was actually correct. This is my kid who hasn’t napped in 2+ years and who can spend an entire day at the zoo and still not fall asleep on the way home (she sleeps great at night, she just doesn’t waste a single second of daylight on sleep!). I told Theo she must be sick and that afternoon she took a 3 hour nap. I mean…UNHEARD OF! She was pale as a sheet and looked almost lethargic but that was it. It took her a good week to get over it and she took a nap almost every day. But we really needed her to get better because….

We had some very special visitors arrive on the very last day of April!
Yay!!!
And that is a wrap on April!
I am going to try to be a little bit more consistent with blogging and do some smaller updates instead of one huge photo dump at the end of the month. May is already off to a very exciting start and I’m sure I will have so much more to share in the next few weeks! Thanks for sticking around and being patient with me as I work to update this little corner of the internet.
